The Cloud and SkiStar offer mobile WiFi broadband in Vemdalen

Stockholm, 2009-10-07 – The Cloud, Europe’s largest independent provider of mobile WiFi broadband has extended its partnership with SkiStar. Vemdalen in Sweden has become the latest ski resort to offer its customers fast, secure, mobile WiFi broadband through The Cloud.

A ski resort like Vemdalen can have the same capacity demands as a minor city particularly during peak season. The agreement will enable SkiStar Vemdalen’s customers to access The Cloud’s mobile broadband network allowing them to enjoy rich online experiences on the move.

The rollout follows a similar successful project in Hemsedal and Trysil, which enables all mobile devices to connect to WiFi through The Cloud or directly through service providers such as Tele2, Telenor and iPass amongst others.

The agreement is to cover the whole of Vemdalen in three phases; phase 1 is to be launched in December 2009 and includes Vemdalsskalet. Phase 2 and 3 also includes Björnrike and Klövsjö.

“Following the successful launch in Hemsedal, The Cloud was an obvious choice for the project in Vemdalen,” said, Torgny Svensson CEO at SkiStar Vemdalen. “Customers in Vemdalen can now expect to connect their laptop or mobile device to a high capacity indoor and outdoor Internet network simply and securely.”

“Skistar is a key partner for The Cloud as we continue our aggressive roll out of high capacity wireless broadband services in Sweden,” said Roald Sandén Country Manager at The Cloud Nordic.
